Larry Jones is the president of the Institute for Humanist Studies, which he founded in 1999. He serves as first vice-president of the International Humanist and Ethical Union, the worldwide umbrella group for humanist, atheist, rationalist, freethought, and ethical culture groups. The IHEU has more than 100 member organizations in 40 countries, and Jones is the only North American on its Executive Committee. [Read election release]

Jones also represents the IHEU as NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) delegate to the United Nations.

He previously served as executive director of the Capital District Humanist Society and sat on the Board of Directors of the National Philanthropic Trust, the Center for Inquiry, and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP -- publisher of Skeptical Inquirer magazine).

Everett Jones is a trustee of Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H., where he has taught machine shop and chemistry.
